Twitter Tips to Grow Your Social Media Like a Pro
We’re back again this week sharing tips for Twitter. Twitter is a unique platform in the world of social media and we have some tips to help you manage the world of Twitter like a pro!
Tweet and retweet!
Twitter does not boast the same comment heavy interface that Instagram or Facebook do. It is possible to comment back to a user's tweet but far less common than on other social platforms.
Completely unique to Twitter is the Retweet. You can click the arrows just below the tweet to retweet content from another user. You can also choose to retweet a user's tweet with a comment of your own. This retweet will show up on your own Twitter feed and the feed of your followers.
Retweet users you love and help their engagement. Hopefully they will return the favor to you!
Photos are a little less common on a social media platform like Twitter compared to Instagram or even Facebook, but they still play an important role.
It has been shown that tweets with photos receive far more engagement than those that do not. Try adding a photo to your next post.
Extra tip: Websites like Canva are a great place to make visually appealing photos to add to all of your social media posts.
When someone finds your Twitter profile what will they know about you? They should be able to look at your profile and pretty quickly know a few things about you.
Picture - Make sure you have a clear picture of yourself or your business logo.
Bio - Tell people who are you and what you do. Share your mission or vision and invite people to join you.
Link - Share your blog or website. Give people a place where they can learn more about you.
Twitter Polls - you may not see them used as often but believe it or not they are another feature of social media that tends to be rewarded in the world of algorithms.
As seen in the image below simply click the poll button (third on the list next to the image button) Then input your choices for the poll.
So simple and helps users engage with your content.
Try it out! What would you run a poll on?
The dreaded 280 character limit. It has happened to us all. Typing away, sharing links and hashtags and Twitter comes along to tell us we've gone over the character limit.
Yes - Twitter is about being concise and because it is a more "real-time" news feed wordy posts will likely be glanced over and engaged with far less.
Sometimes you just need those few extra characters, though, and that is where link shortening sites can be a life saver!
Sites like bit.ly will take your long link and shorten it to Twitter appropriate links. No more wording and rewording those Twitter posts. Give it a try!
